On 15th July, 2020, the *Rotary Club of Accra-Airport City * with kind sponsorship from our partners from the *USA - Grassroots Community Foundation* donated handmade bags containing 60 sanitary pads each and a "Go Girl" book on how best to care for themselves to 34 students (girls) of *St Anne & Joachim Catholic Junior High School* in Teshie.
In 2019, the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport City partnered with Grassroots Community Foundation with the theme *"End Period Poverty"* and till date they have been supporting us.
Period poverty is a global issue affecting women and girls who don't have access to safe hygenic sanitary products or who are unable to manage their periods with dignity and sometimes due to community stigmatizing practices.
This is a cause the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport City decided to embark on yearly as a project to help the thousands of women and girls who are struggling in our communities.
This also falls in line with *Rotary International's* seven areas of focus namely;
• Peace and conflict prevention/resolution.
• Disease prevention and treatment.
• Water and sanitation.
• Maternal and child health
• Basic education and literacy
• Economic and community development
• Supporting the environment
The End Period Poverty project addresses disease prevention and treatment area of focus.
