The Annual Stakeholders Meeting organized to facilitate smooth and peaceful Homowo Celebration was held at the Teshie Orphanage to inform the general public of the arrangements put in place in this era of covid19 pandemic, to ensure maximum security during the Homowo Festival Celebration.
The meeting was organized by the Teshie Youth Movement in collaboration with the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly. In attendance were the Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku Constituency and Deputy Minister for Health , Hon. Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, Hon. Evelyn Naa Adjeley Twum-Gyamerah (Ledzokuku Municipal Chief Executive), Hon. Adjei Sowah (Accra Metropolitan Assembly Meyor), Lawyer Jerry Ahmed, (CEO, Coastal Development Authority), ACP, Francis Tsidi (Kpeshie Divisional Commander), Chief Superintendent Francis Antwi Boasiako (Teshie District Commander), all the various flag groups were present.
Hon. Dr. Okoe Boye addressed the gathering on the corona virus pandemic and underscored the need for the citizenry to strictly adhere to protective measures and necessary protocols before, during and after the celebration. He appealed to the celebrants to comply with the ban on kpashimo to curb the spread. He donated an amount of money and souvenirs to the groups.
On her part, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Evelyn Naa Adjeley Twum-Gyamerah advised the groups to be law abiding and not to engage in any act of violence in the celebration to maintain the peace in the municipality during and after the Homowo Celebration. She also donated a cash amount to the groups for the Homowo Celebration in their respective areas.
The dialogue between the security agencies and the stakeholders was cordial and they mutually agreed to celebrate the Homowo festival in their respective areas and not to parade on the streets as it used to be.
Any individual or group who are found culpable for any negative behaviour would be dealt with according to the law. Furthermore, arrangements have been made with joint security agencies to check such unlawful activities to make sure law and order prevails.
All stakeholders and celebrants are hereby advised to adhere to the rules and regulations governing the celebration to achieve the needed success.
We wish all indigenes a very peaceful and joyous Homowo Celebration.
