The menace of child labour and trafficking is alarming in Ghana and nobody seems to care but thank God that Engaged Now Africa is there to care for this abuse children's.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the coordinator of the End Modern Slavery and Engaged Now African, Mrs Barbara Mensah Appiah, reiterated to the fact that now child labour and trafficking is over alarming rate in Ghana and so common.
These year between the first quarter of the year the End Modern Slavery and Engaged Now Africa was able to rescues five children from Greater Accra Region.
She appealed to parents that if someone or be it relatives they need to be enough to ask them questions about their of place stayed and type of work or school they're going to engaged them on.
According to her, parents must just give out their children without knowing their whereabouts or even types of job they engaged them on.
"As a mother before you will give your child to someone you need go see the place the person taken your child to and type of treatment he or she is given to your child"she warned.
The End Modern Slavery (EMS) and Engaged Now Africa, was able to rescued five children were in the Old and New Ningo townships and Ada East in the Greater-Accra Region.
In his response, the Director of End Modern Slavery (EMS) and Director of Operations of Engage Now Africa (ENA), Afasi Komla, said that the slow pace of enforcing the child labour and trafficking act.
He was optimistic that his outfit has made provisions to reintegrated them back into their families and provided those who are of school-going age to be enrolled into various schools of their choice whilst the rest have been given the opportunity to learn a skill like sewing, carpentry which they have already received sewing machines, carpentry tools and the rest were also given refrigerators and Sustainable Livelihood Support funds to start a business.”
For her part, the country director of End Modern Slavery and Engaged Now Africa, Cecilia Amankwa, revealed that some of these children are been used for domestic servitude or better still, child labour in the cocoa-growing community.
“My outfit has rescued a lot of victims from modern slavery related issues and for us to achieve a zero percentage of such cases, everybody including the government and other organizations must partner with us so that we can fight against modern slavery in the country because such practices still exist and if no one tells you about it, you would not know”she lamented.
She appealed to parents to desist from trading their children without knowing what they're going use them for.
The End Modern Slavery and Engaged Now Africa enrolled victims into liquid soap making and other skills.
