Nene Okukrubour Teye Kwasi Agyemang, Chief Of Dodowa
Dodowa is a town located in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, it is the district capital of Shai Osudoku district.
In an interview with Nene Okukrubour Teye Kwasi Agyeman (v) Dodowa chief talked about the Economic Benefits in Dodowa . Nene Okukrubour said Dodowa has one of the biggest curry site in Ghana so far, as construction is concern and currently, they have about 40 and more curry concessions that are on operation within the range of the Shai Hills.
Moreover, Accra is expanding speedly and with that, demand for development in terms of infrastructure, buildings and lands for other economic benefit like factories and other things are so much in demand from Dodowa and its environment.
Transportation is one of the key thing that helps community to grow and therefore Dodowa have a lot of Transport Ownership that carries passengers to and from accra and other areas also is the major road which is connected to the Volta Region, Eastern, Tema and Accra, he added.
He emphasized on transport which is one of the economic benefits that the people of Dodowa are interested in and they also operate Tipper trucks that carries gravels, sand and curry stones across breath of this country.
Nene Okukrubour Teye Kwasi Agyeman mentioned one of the key thing that discouraged people is the road network and there is a lot of traffic on the road.
Unfortunately not just the traffic but the road network itself is not good. They thought Dodowa road network has been captured in budget for the Dual carriage of the Dodowa road, but nothing has been done about it.
Even the Minister and President Akufo Addo came over and they assured me and gave me three weeks that they were going to put machines on the road especially the road connecting Dodowa to Afienya,Tema, Ada and Prampram these are the easiest and fastest growing areas that which needed the road network to be fixed.
Currently, Dodowa market has become one of the biggest market within Accra and again Dodowa has the best district hospital but unfortunately they have a bad road network.
According to Nene Okukrubour Teye Kwasi Agyeman (v), another challenge that they are facing now is the degrading of the hill areas whiles individuals are building private homes which that areas are supposed to served as a green zone to protect the flat land of the area.
Nene Okukrubour added that, now if it rains the kind of rains that comes from the hills through the township is massive that they have to be careful.
Therefore he is urging the Assembly to step out in issuing building permit so that, they can stop other people from degrading the green belt.
