As we reminisce about our cherished days within the historic walls of the Grey City on the outlaw’s hill, the memories flood back with overwhelming pride and nostalgia. The laughter echoing in the corridors, the camaraderie forged on the games’ field, and the timeless lessons imparted to us by Achimota Mother Ours… These are the treasures that bind us together as Akoras.

As we celebrate the momentous occasion of our 25th anniversary, it is an ideal time to reflect on the remarkable journey of our alma mater and envision its future growth. A visit to Achimota School reveals several needs calling for our collective support and engagement in its ongoing development.

Answering the clarion call, the OAA 1999 Year Group, marking the 25th anniversary since graduating from Achimota School, has embarked on a remarkable endeavor as part of our silver jubilee legacy project. Our chosen mission is to support the admirable cause of the Achimota School Endowment Trust Fund (ASET Fund). 

This initiative serves a dual purpose: addressing the near-term needs of our beloved alma mater while ensuring a secure and prosperous future for generations to follow.

The ASET Fund is not just about fundraising; it is about building a lasting legacy of empowerment and transformation. It will ensure that Achimota School continuously receives the needed resources to function optimally and remains a beacon of academic excellence and opportunity.

At the heart of this endeavor lies a simple yet powerful vision: to raise $10 million by the School's centenary in 2027. This ambitious goal will enable us to revitalize Achimota School, by among other things upgrading infrastructure, enhancing educational programs, supporting school operation and fostering a conducive learning environment. With over $100,000.00 raised so far, the vision is steadily making its way into fruition.

The establishment of the ASET Fund will enable us to more sustainably tackle a number of key areas. These areas include:

Enhancing Infrastructure: As our cherished institution expands, it is crucial to invest in state-of-the-art facilities while maintaining and modernizing existing infrastructure. By creating an optimal learning environment, we can foster creativity, collaboration, and academic success.

Attracting and Retaining Quality Educators: By providing competitive incentives and professional development opportunities, we can ensure that Achimota School continues to attract and retain exceptional teachers who inspire and empower students.

Promoting Technological Advancements: Embracing innovative technologies and integrating them into the curriculum will equip students with the skills needed for the rapidly evolving digital landscape. The President of the 99 Year Group, Akwete Bortei-Doku, encapsulates the essence of our mission: "It is to raise a generation of educated people who will have an impact in this country and in the world." The OAA 1999 year group has committed to raising a minimum of $50,000 for the ASET fund. Additionally, we are devoted to raising awareness of the fund to encourage many more people and groups to contribute towards achieving the momentous $10M target by 2027. Together, we have the power to shape the future, to empower the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and changemakers.
