*September Borns* of the *Rotary Club of Accra-Airport City* , donates to Akuse Female Prison

 Story Reported by Gideon Kotey

The *September Borns* of the *Rotary Club of Accra-Airport City* ( Past President Antoinette Chi-Chi Nwosu, Immediate Past President Anita Sobreh, Rotarian Precious Quao and Rotarian Sylvia Claire Serwaah Fordjour) in partnership with their club the *Rotary Club of Accra-Airport City* and *Amenesty International*, supported by guest Rotarians, family and friends on 25th September, 2021 donated raw food items, sanitary items, drinks, detergents, toiletries, underwear and a 330 litre chest freezer just to mention a few to aid the inmates of the *Akuse Female Prison*.

The chest freezer was one of the urgent needs of facility to enable them store, preserve and keep their food items in a wholesome state.

The President of the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport City, RP Bertha Ghartey spoke words of encouragement to the inmates.

The Campaigns and  Fundraising Co-ordinator Mr. Samuel Agbotsey from Amenesty International informed the inmates of his organisation's efforts to stop jail sentences for petty crimes (stealing of livestock, food etc), rather the accused should be charged to do community service for a period of time under supervision because it is obvious that it was hunger that led the person to commit the offence.

The highlight of the day was the soap making session, where inmates were given raw materials, buckets, spatulas as well as writing pads to ensure their participation in the soap making process as they were being taught.

The September borns cut their birthday cake, shared it with the inmates and gave each inmate a goodie bag.

They thanked all those who supported in various ways to make the donation a success.
